The modular industrial motors of the VEMoModular series represent the highest performance and maximum flexibility. They were specially developed for industrial applications that require individual adaptation, high resilience, and long-term operational reliability. With power outputs of up to 50 megawatts and a sophisticated, modular design, these motors offer tailor-made solutions for virtually every industry.

Features

The modular motors impress with their high power density, scalable sizes up to 1000 mm, and a robust, welded steel housing. All variants are designed for use in demanding conditions, with protection classes up to IP65 and explosion-proof versions according to Ex e, Ex p, and Ex t. For optimal cooling – even during continuous operation – various cooling concepts are available, including IC01, IC6xx, and IC8xW. The motors are available with various pole counts, can be equipped with either roller or plain bearings, and offer flexible connection and monitoring options. The modular concept enables easy integration into a wide variety of system landscapes – whether as a mains-powered motor or for operation with an inverter.

Applications

Thanks to their power and versatility, modular motors are ideal for a wide range of industrial applications. In power generation, they drive generators or pumps, while in the paper and pulp industry, they ensure continuous production processes. In the chemical, oil, and gas industries, their explosion-proof versions meet the highest safety requirements. Other applications include steel and rolling mills, water/wastewater management, and the cement and mining industries – wherever robust and powerful motors are required.

Modular SQ

The Modular SQ series of asynchronous motors – squirrel-cage induction motors – offer power outputs of up to 25 MW and speeds of up to 3600 rpm. They are suitable for dynamic processes with high flexibility requirements and are particularly well-suited for their reliability and cost-effectiveness. Thanks to the modular design with cooling types such as IC01, IC6xx, and IC8xW, as well as the choice between different pole numbers, frequencies, and designs (B3, V1), each motor can be precisely adapted to the specific application. The IP65 protection rating and the availability of explosion-proof versions (Ex e, Ex p, Ex t) underscore the industrial claim of this series to deliver robust and reliable solutions in harsh, demanding applications.

Modular SR

The Modular SR series – asynchronous motors with slip-ring rotors – is characterized by its integrated slip-ring rotor, which enables precise control of the starting behavior. This is particularly advantageous in applications with difficult starting conditions – such as mills, large fans, or under weak grid conditions. Targeted adjustment of the starting process ensures a smooth start-up even under demanding operating conditions. After start-up, the motors operate largely like comparable squirrel-cage motors, but continue to benefit from the series' fundamental robustness and modular design. With power outputs up to 20 MW, speeds up to 1800 rpm, and sizes from 400 to 1000 mm, the Modular SR series is ideal for large conveyor systems, grinding plants, and pump systems. Variants for potentially explosive areas (Ex p and Ex t) as well as flexible cooling options – air- or water-based – ensure reliable continuous operation even under extreme conditions.

Modular Sync

The Modular Sync series offers synchronous motors with up to 50 MW of power, designed for particularly energy-efficient processes and high-precision torque control. They operate in the range up to 1800 rpm and, thanks to their synchronization, are ideal for critical applications in air separation. Cooling is provided by IC6xx or IC8xW, the housing is made of welded steel, and the design is IP55 as standard – with additional explosion-proof versions (Ex e, Ex p, Ex t) available.
