Roller table motors

Roller table motors are specifically designed for use in metal production areas subject to exceptionally heavy loads. Glowing steel, operating cycles involving overloads, and harsh environments require a highly robust design.

Features

The housings of the roller table motors are made of grey cast iron and feature ribs running transverse to the motor axis (annular ribs). When used with converters, operating speeds can be adapted almost ideally to the specific drive requirements. Since the control ranges lie primarily in the lower frequency spectrum, project-specific winding adaptation and the use of frequency converters with automatic voltage boost or field-oriented control are recommended. The windings are specially designed for converter operation.

As a long-standing partner to heavy industry, VEM supplies ARC series roller table motors either as direct drives or combined with attached gear units. These single- or multi-stage gear units were developed in collaboration with leading gear manufacturers and are specifically designed for operation in continuous casting plants, furnaces, and rolling mills.

Applications

Roller table motors are used in steelworks and rolling mills for both processing and transport roller tables. Their primary applications include transporting steel or aluminum, conveying semi-finished products to cooling and heating systems, and feeding sheet and foil coilers.
