Permanently excited synchronous motors
Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are a type of synchronous motors in which the excitation field is generated by permanent magnets instead of electromagnetic windings. These motors are known for their high efficiency and power density, making them a preferred choice for various applications.
How it works
Permanently excited synchronous motors (PMSM) work with permanent magnets on the rotor, which generate the necessary magnetic field. The stator consists of electromagnetic windings powered by alternating current. Since the rotor's magnetic field is constant and does not have to be generated by external power sources, the rotor and stator field rotate synchronously. This means there are no slip losses like induction motors, resulting in precise and efficient performance.
Efficiency and power density
By using permanent magnets, PMSM are extremely efficient as no energy has to be used to generate the magnetic field in the rotor. This results in a high power density, allowing these engines to deliver more power per unit weight. These properties make PMSM ideal for applications where space and weight are critical, such as electric vehicles and aerospace technology.
Applications
Permanently excited synchronous motors are widely used in various areas. They are popular in electric vehicles because of their high efficiency and performance. Industrial machines use PMSM for precise control and high performance requirements. They are also used in home appliances, HVAC systems and robotics because they provide precise control and reliability. This versatility and ability to work efficiently in a variety of environments make PMSM a preferred choice for many modern technological applications.
Our PMSM products
With the same size, PM motors can also achieve higher performance than asynchronous motors. The magnet wheel, which follows the rotating field exactly, makes it possible, for example, to use PM motors in conveyor belts with several synchronously running drives. All designs and a variety of modifications to the standard motor series are available.
With the two new series:
- Permanently excited synchronous energy-saving motors
- Permanently excited synchronous high-power motors
VEM has made its entry into the technology of permanent magnet synchronous motors. The products have successfully implemented the proven design principles of the K21R/WE1R series. to connect with the new technology.
