New plant in Mississippi equipped with VEM drives
Cold rolling mill produces seamless tubes

The rolling train in a new tube cold rolling mill in Mississippi is up for commissioning – with the entire electrical equipment supplied by VEM.

This major contract includes controlled electric drives and equipment for the tube cold rolling mill’s automated DCS as well as system software and technical documentation. The plant in Tunica, Mississippi will produce seamless tubes at diameters ranging from eight to 24 inches. The metal layers in the tubes are metallurgically bonded using bridge diffusion. The metallurgically clad tubes are used in special applications such as oil, gas and petrochemicals. Our client in this large-scale order, the Krefeld-based Schulz Group, is responsible for the plant’s construction, and the plant will have around 500 employees producing seamless tubes as a speciality at the company’s Tunica location.
