Revamping rotary converters
The Norwegian National Rail Administration, Jernbaneverket, tendered for inspection and modification work on the first DB rotary converter from the DB Energie inventory, and awarded the contract to our VEM Dresden location.

Revamped and coated:
A rotary converter at VEM Dresden

VEM Sachsenwerk leads the European market in rotary converter inspection. This major order will involve returning the first rotary converter planned for use in Norway back to its manufacturing plant in Dresden for inspection and technical revamping for use in Norwegian rotary converter plants within a period of six months. The Norwegian order will take the highest level of precision and scheduling to deadline, integrated into the production processes in the four rotary converter inspections planned for DB Energie.

Jernbaneverket plans to boost its capacity for rotary converters in the next few years to accommodate the increasing railway traffic in Norway stretching along Scandinavia from Kristiansand in the south to Narvik in the north – a plan that could mean additional orders for us in Dresden.
