Presentation tool for energy efficiency
We will be presenting solutions for measuring losses at arbitrary operating points in power drive systems at HANNOVER MESSE 2015.

VEM will be presenting a loss calculation tool at HANNOVER MESSE; the tool documents energy efficiency in power drive systems (PDS), supporting calculations for system losses at any operating point relevant to the application. The initial assumption is that there are no alternatives to a PDS for reasons of efficiency if operating points with varying load and speed requirements dominate. The additional costs for necessary frequency converters will pay off within a very short period.

Our loss calculation tool supports users towards reducing measuring costs for the manufacturer in the extended product. A higher number of measuring points improves accuracy, especially at lower outputs. We are working on extending this towards a web-based tool.

The EN 50598 standard was written in order to compare one PDS with another. We at VEM are gradually applying this standard in our VEMoDRIVE drive systems.

A must-see: Head designer Sylvia Blankenhagen from our Zwickau location will be holding a fascinating presentation titled Elektrischer Antrieb versus Antriebssystem im Spannungsfeld von Gesetzen, Normen und Kundenapplikation (Electrical drives vs. drive systems in the tug-of-war between laws, standards and customer applications) at the Forum Industrial Automation 2015.
