Auslauf der EFF-Kennzeichnung entsprechend Voluntary Agreement of CEMEP
Wernigerode, 13.Januar 2010
Availability to use EFF-marks according to Voluntary Agreement of CEMEP is extended until 15th June 2011

Up to now low voltage three-phase motors in the power range 1.1 to 90 kW in 2- and 4-pole design are marked in accordance with their efficiency with EFF3, EFF2 and/or EFF1. The manufacturers of electric machines had signed the Voluntary Agreement of CEMEP in 1998. It was aimed at reducing the share of produced EFF3 motors to below 50%. The undersigned has thus acquired the licence to use the known logos for marking of the efficiency class on the name plate of their motors.

In the meantime the Voluntary Agreement of CEMEP is expired. In their letter from 3rd December 2009 the Working Group L.V.-A.C. Motors of CEMEP has advised that the currently known logos for marking of efficiency classes will be no longer allowed after 10th February 2010. The implementation of this statement has led to severe problems for running contracts.

Due to this fact the Working Group L.V.-A.C. Motors of CEMEP has discussed the circumstances again. As a result of the extraordinary meeting in December they decided to offer the possibility of a licence extension for the use of EFF marks until 15th June 2011 (letter from 22nd December 2009).

Of course VEM is using this possibility on behalf of their customers. Therefore the situation for implementation of new IE marks is eased. Our customers will now have better planning options in changing their products to new efficiency classes.

The date of introduction of new minimum efficiencies is still fixed on 16th June 2011 according to the corresponding regulation (EC) 640/2009. In the period until 15th June 2011 a supply of motors with the old EFF classification is still possible.

VEM has already started to change their product range from former EFF classes to IE efficiency classification complying with IEC/EN 60034-30. Thus it is now already possible to order motors according to the new IE efficiency classification.

We can supply motors that are within the scope of the EuP directive and therefore also in the scope of the executive order (EC) 640/2009:

power range 0,75 up to 375 kW 2-, 4- and 6-pole, 50 Hz

in efficiency classes

IE1 and IE2

(60 Hz - design available on request)

Since September 2009 we published information about the changes that result from implementation of minimum efficiencies according to directive (EC) 640/2009 for you as a customer. You can find additional information on our website
http://www.vem-group.com/eigenes/meldung_en.html

Of course your VEM contact is also available for all questions about the new efficiency classes.
